ff1710d9ea feat(editor): labels for a layman, light at the start; whole sceneries fitted to the terrain model
Labels:
- every button, field, tooltip and message of the editor reread for a beginner: short nouns for the fields with the
sentence in the tooltip, the less used options under More settings, one glossary (field of work, template, track,
grade), sides told from directions, degrees and per mille as signs, messages built from one format string
- plural forms through STR_P; the last entry of a po file is read too, and the Polish plural rule is in the header
- lang/editor_pl.po: the code pass entries merged, 391 entries no code uses and 3 duplicates dropped
- roads: the notes and errors naming a road translated; the build options and the layout fold the texture length,
kerb sizes, traffic share, roundabout part, height over the ground and junction speed limit under More settings, the
  lanes start folded

Grade lines fitted to the terrain model (NMT), a line or the whole scenery at once:
- fit_ground: a robust fit on nodes 5 m apart; the ground parting from the line (a bridge, a viaduct, a wall) is gone
past rather than followed, the bends keep off the switches as far as their curves reach, a run of bends the same way
is one point of intersection, a curve with no room is as sharp as the room lets it be
- the ends of the line and the other paths of its switches leading into lines fitted already bound the line by what
the tracks between can climb; ends meeting in the plan, laid apart in height by hand, are joined before the run
- apply_profile: the paths are split where split_path takes the parameter (a straight was cut in the wrong place, into
pieces of a few centimetres the game takes for zero length), no piece shorter than the margin; the paths off the
ends of the route are brought to its height
- Bytom: 1600 lines, grade breaks at the joints 89 -> 20; Tarnowskie Gory: 848 lines, 223 -> 3; no step over 2 cm

979a3d1ce4 feat(editor): switch templates for the rail of the selected track, their names translated, shorter hints
- the template list shows the templates of the rail the selected track is laid with (railprofile s60/uic60: 60E1, s49:
  49E1, s42: S42), a box shows them all
- the words of the catalogue names are translated (movable nose, long, gauge, blades outside), the kind of a slip or a
crossing its type says already is left out
- shorter hints of the switch tool, of More and of the missing drives

3ba22aae10 feat(editor): a less crowded track editor and one choice of what the switch tool places
- the switch tool asks what to place: a switch, a slip switch, a crossing or a connection of tracks (crossover, double,
  scissors, ladder), with the templates and the options of that kind only and one line of how to place it with the mouse;
the bar of hints says the same, the wheel keys of a connection included; panel in its own editormodeswitchtool.cpp
- templates are listed by their names, the lengths a and b and the rest of the label in the tooltip
- the panel of a selected switch shows its length, its type and its drive; the name, number, rail, kilometre and angle are
  under Details
- one toolbar: the tools are no longer drawn a second time down the edge of the view; the track tools show select, lay,
plan, switch and parallel, the others behind More, which starts closed again (setting track_tools_all)
- the infrastructure tool has no button nor key
- the gizmo options start closed, the node bank isn't drawn in the track mode
- no drive models: said in plain words
- self-test switchkind

f81698eaf1 feat(editor): the top view zooms out to 50 km for a whole line, from 0.5 m per pixel the rail tracks are drawn as thin lines and the hover reaches 16 px around them, only the tracks near the cursor are checked; handles drag beyond 200 m from the camera in Tracks; Plan works with the mouse alone and without the gizmo: the grips of a straight, the vertices and the radius of a curve drag directly, the break tool is press on the straight and drag, the panel tool stays chosen afterwards, the Q/W/E bar is hidden in Plan; self-test command ortho 2026-10-12 02:49:07 +02:00

16c90eb674 feat(editor): Straight and Curve are one Plan tool (G, also C) right after Lay track, a straight opens with its grips, a curve or a line with its vertices; digits no longer type a length while extending from a free end; the scenery wizard chooses realistic or fictional, a realistic one gets //$g and //$o and opens with the orthophoto in the top view, a fictional one only the top view with the grid; the orthophoto settings are kept in the scenery as //$o (on, year, opacity, radius, height, drape, lift, hires, scene, origin) and survive the new formats; self-test command mapstate 2026-10-12 02:21:29 +02:00

653d206a54 feat(editor): the vehicle tool places trainsets: what is placed on a named track is written to the scenery on save as trainset <timetable> <track> <offset> <speed>, with reversed when it faces against the track, listed until the save with x to leave one out; the timetable and the starting speed are set in the panel, a tick turns writing off for a vehicle only to drive; the starter WMB10 is only added when nothing was placed; self-test command trainset 2026-10-12 02:00:50 +02:00

c9f381a9c9 feat(editor): the parallel track is a tool of its own (N) in the toolbar, its green preview only shows there, Shift+click on a straight in L opens it with that track; the norms are two buttons at the top of the Lay panel and of the Curve tool, shared by both, free hides the recommendations of the curve and its norm warnings, the duplicate transitions checkbox is gone; the Lay panel starts with the radius, the speed and the shape; the Tracks toolbar shows the tools that lay track, the ones that correct a line are under More (remembered); First steps ends with driving the track laid; self-test command tracktab 2026-10-12 01:52:28 +02:00

35bda3778c Heightmap terrain: .tch chunk packs, streaming with LOD, terrain painting, water and modifiers - terrain/<name>/terrain.yaml + <px>_<pz>.tch packs of 16x16 chunks (250 m, 0.5/1/2/5 m spacing), slices with crc-32 and optional zstd (vendored zstd 1.5.6 in ref/zstd) - heightmap_terrain [name] endheightmap_terrain directive replaces editorterrain - streamer: worker threads, camera + look-ahead loading, geomipmap LOD with skirts, pooled geometry - mat_terrain shader: up to 8 painted layer materials per chunk via texture arrays (opengl33); other renderers fall back to the dominant material - water bodies (outline + level), terrain modifiers (vertical profile shaping kept non-destructive) - F11 Terrain work mode rebuilt: chunks, sculpt, smooth, paint, point spacing, water tools 2026-10-09 21:02:25 +02:00
3e3317d26f feat(editor): the toolbar as buttons with icons and names, the chosen tool standing out as the chosen field of work does, the names left out when the row is too narrow for them; the fields of work with icons of their own (surroundings, tracks, roads, terrain) and both rows captioned at their left end (work modes, tools); the tools of the toolbar and of the left edge of the 3d view from one list; Polish translation 2026-10-09 12:49:45 +02:00
645a54a739 feat(editor): icons over the 3d view: the tools of the field of work along its left edge (the edit modes of the surroundings, the track tools, the road tools with the lanes, the terrain tools with the orthophoto), the modes of the gizmo at its top, the axes of the world as the camera sees them in its top right corner, a click on one looking along it, with the top view under them; the icons drawn by editor/icons/editor_icons.py into a png which CMake writes out as an array built into the executable; the gizmo modes and the top view left out of the toolbar; Polish translation 2026-10-09 11:54:47 +02:00
